MORNING THOUGHTS ☕️: ok...here we go...hanging out in 2 Timothy.
2 Tim 3: You know that I’ve been called to SERVE the God of my fathers...”
I’ve been called to serve. Don’t forget, he’s writing this letter from prison. Serving got him there. Serving did not get him a big house in the right neighborhood. Being called looked different then than now 😳.
Last year, the Lord told me I was entering a “season of Obed”. I had NO idea what that meant. Then, I had a dream on NYE that I had gotten a new job and my job title was “community service” 😳.
Come to find out Obed means “serving” and “worshipping”. He was the son of Boaz and Ruth. That’s a whole other topic for another day.
Anyway. SERVE. SERVANT. A person in service of another.
Jesus said he came to SERVE, not to BE served. He was in service to his father. And boy oh boy, I’d say he served up quite the platter for all of us.
I think too much of the “church” has gotten this backwards. We see leadership being served. We see them in green rooms instead of prison rooms. I’m not trying to be harsh...I’m simply pondering how different being called looks now. Now...it’s a career path. Then, it was often a path to martyrdom. (Gosh...I didn’t mean to go down this rabbit hole)
Called to SERVE. That’s you + me. We are called to be IN SERVICE to our Father and to others. It changes everything when our focus is off of self and onto HIM. I promise. #morningthoughtswithE #2TimothyThoughts
