Luke 22 is loaded. But can we talk about this one:
The disciples bickered over which one of them would be considered the greatest in the kingdom. (vs 24)
Jesus interrupted them.
He basically said this: “the men of authority in THIS WORLD rule over their subjects, claiming it’s for the good of the people. They are OBSESSED with how others see them. But THIS IS NOT YOUR CALLING. You will lead by a different model. The greatest among you will live as one called to SERVE others without honor. It is the servant who leads.” (vs 26-27 TPT)
One of my hospital stays was in a teaching hospital. A surgeon walked into my room with about 6-8 students. I observed as each one was trying to be the greatest. Each one wanted to have the answer and be the stand out. All I could think was that everyone wants to be great, but few understand they already are.
We are because He is.
May Jesus interrupt us all this season to remind us that we are NOT called to adhere to the model of this world…competing for attention and greatness and accolades and followers. May he interrupt us all and remind us that as the light of the world, we are called to go low, to love, to serve.

“ We are because He is.” BAM💥
If we remember that we won’t be striving to be first.
