MORNING THOUGHTS ☕️: CALLING
“GO into ALL the earth…”
I had a student when I was teaching in ministry school. He was awesome. He was a husband, father, and brilliant construction/contractor who owned his own business. It was a flourishing business. He had an encounter with the Lord that radically changed him (I get it) and his life direction. Shortly thereafter, He quit working and showed up on the steps of our school. For two years, he studied.
At the end of his time there, he came to me for help on his “calling.” He had a fundraising letter in hand and paperwork to begin to file for and start a non-profit/ministry. His calling, he shared with me, was to GO OUT and find men who would never enter the walls of the church and to be there for them and build relationship. He continued to share that he wanted to do cookouts, take them to ballgames, etc.
I sat there in disbelief. Here was a brilliant young business man who had run a successful company that employed men, worked on job sites with men, and was OUT in the (harvest) field with them on a daily basis. But now, he felt he was supposed to turn that into a “ministry” and have people fund it. 😳
Do you see the issue? Do you know it’s a rampant problem? This belief that IF we are called, it must mean we start a non-profit (now watch me be told to start one 😂) and give it a ministry name and THEN begin to go out and minister!?!
No. No. No. Some are. Most aren’t. We’re called to use the gifts, talents and skills to GO out into all the earth and the fields and release the kingdom everywhere we GO, as we GO.
GO (verb): to move or proceed; to be in motion.
Let’s GO people.
