MORNING THOUGHTS ☕️:
Compassion: having a strong desire to alleviate suffering.
In Mark 6:34, Jesus was overcome with compassion. He was actually on his way to rest for a while. There had been so many people around him, he hadn’t even had a chance to eat. He sent the disciples on ahead with the plan to meet them and then rest a bit as well.
But don’t you know a crowd was waiting when he landed ashore. Dang it. It says “at the sight of them, his heart was FILLED with compassion (a nurturing love towards them), because they seemed like wandering sheep who had no shepherd. So he taught them many wonderful things.”
He stopped. And stayed.
You see, compassion is always a clue to a call. If we’re rushing around...dead set on going where we THOUGHT we were going...focused on OUR own issues (being hungry and sleepy), we could miss it. That compassion. We are not to ignore it. We’re to stop for it. No matter where we are or what we’re doing. It’s a God-given gift.
Watch for it. The next time you’re on your way to where you thought you were going...it may swell up inside of you. Don’t ignore it. That’s the Lord overflowing from you. Let him use you as a vessel. It may change someone else’s life and for sure, yours.
