MORNING THOUGHTS ☕️: Happy Friday! I’m curled up with a coffee and back in bed on this super chilly morning. Winter has for sure arrived in the mountains.
My thoughts this morning went to the word DOUBT. In James 1, it says that DOUBT makes us like the waves of the sea…driven and tossed by the wind.
In the passion translation, it reads this way:
“Ask empowered by confident faith WITHOUT DOUBTING that you will receive. For the ambivalent person believes one minute and doubts the next. Being UNDECIDED makes you become like the rough seas…driven and tossed by the wind. You’re up one minute and tossed the next. When you are HALF-HEARTED and wavering, it leaves you unstable (restless, disengaged).
Hmmm. So much to say. First, the Lord told me that he wanted me WHOLE-HEARTED….so, there’s that. Second, I’ve felt restless for sure lately. I’m wondering how much I’ve placed on “waiting on God” instead of on him “waiting on me.”
I ask. I hear. I have confident faith. Then…sometimes I just sit.
So, if I’m using the equation above…the stop point after the “asking empowered full of faith” is WITHOUT DOUBTING.
Doubt plugs it all up. It stops the forward movement. It ties God’s hands so to speak.
The last line is: “can you really expect to receive anything from the Lord when you’re in THAT condition?!”
Yikes. I know what I’m going to be sitting with today. I know what I’m going to be pondering and asking about and going deeper with.
How about you? Do you deal with doubt in any areas of your life?
Duh. You’re human. I’ll bet you do.
