We’ve created a bird sanctuary. Literally. Birds are everywhere. Cardinals. Finches. Hummingbirds. Chickadees. Oh, and let’s not forget the chickens and ducks and geese. It’s foul city up in here. And I KNOW we have the fattest birds around. I mean…FAT. They are well taken care of. As soon as their feeders run dry (which is often) we grab our bird seed and fill those feeders right up. Even if they have to wait a few hours or so…we ALWAYS fill up those feeders.
Makes me think of Matthew 6:26:
Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns: YET your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are YOU not of more value than they?
Next line: So. Why. Do. You. Worry.
We’re supposed to live free from anxiety and worry over daily needs. If we’re following the Lord and being obedient to Him, then worrying is unnecessary and unfruitful. Just a few verses down is the antidote to worry. It tells us that God knows that we need things and IF we seek His kingdom first, THEN these things will be added to us. Yup. It’s one of those if/then verses.
I’ve for sure found this to be true. I’ve also found that when I seek the kingdom first, a ton of the things I used to think I wanted or needed somehow lose their draw and my desires shift.
How would our day be different if we went through it like our birds. No worries. No stress. No striving. No sitting on pins and needles or biting fingernails. Just BEING and knowing that our Heavenly Father knows all, sees all, and knows exactly what we need and when.
If only we’d believe it.

Funny thing, sometimes we have to “strive” to get over anxious thought or worry.

: to struggle in opposition : CONTEND
