MORNING THOUGHTS ☕️: Happy Friday everyone! I hope this weekend is full of love and peace and REST. We’re in the throes of SENIOR ACTIVITIES as Shanice graduates in two weeks! Can’t even believe it.
Last night, we had the last conference game for the girls soccer team AND senior night. Everyone was there. Senior posters up, senior jersey numbers sprayed on the field, bouquets of flowers and lots of tear stained faces.
All season long, Shanice has had a few “close shots” at making a goal…but alas…not a one. She’s felt defeated at times. She’s had games she didn’t even get to play.
But last night…
She scored the FIRST GOAL of the night! HER first goal of the season. Everyone in the stands jumped up in a roar and her teammates rushed around to hug her. It was incredible.
She scored AGAIN!! We went wild!!!
And then…she scored again!!
Three goals in a soccer game is called a HAT TRICK.
HAT TRICK: three successes of any kind, especially in a limited timespan.
Here’s this girl, who’s never been on the starting lineup, never scored a goal, has often sat on the bench…and on the LAST GAME…THREE goals.
This morning, I’m thinking how life can feel like that and how, so often, when we’re benched or not “scoring” or feel defeated or like we’re overlooked or forgotten…in a moment…God can say “Oh no! You’re not forgotten or overlooked. My eyes are on you…don’t you worry. I’ve saved the BEST for last…and when it’s time…you will come off that bench…you will get on that field…you will be in that game…and you will not only be IN it, you’ll help WIN it. I have a HAT TRICK up my sleeves waiting just for you. Trust Me.”
So. Don’t mind us over here as we smile ear to ear all weekend and celebrate what happened last night.
Don’t give up. Your hat trick may be just around the corner.
SO AWESOME!! Way to go Shanice
Wow, I learned something new “hat trick”…congrats Shanice!
