Jesus slept during the storm. The disciples were freaking out when SUDDENLY huge waves threatened to overtake their boat.
Jesus. He slept.
They had to wake him, even though he was exhausted. What was the first thing He said?! “Why are you fearful?” The Passion Translation says “why are you gripped with fear!?!” Why do you have such little faith?
LITTLE FAITH in the concordance is the word ‘oligopistos. Oligos means small and pistis means faith. He was basically saying they had a faith that TRUSTS TOO LITTLE. It’s also worded as ‘underdeveloped faith’ which is different than outright unbelief.
So, look at it this way...any suddenly, storm, tumultuous situation...IS an opportunity for more faith and trust to be developed. We get to CHOOSE. Freak out, wake Jesus up and be like ummm, hello!!?!? We’re in a storm over here!!! OR develop more trust and learn to operate even more from a posture of rest.
