Morning Sunshines! Told you I’d need a little extra time on some summer mornings!:) Our girls soccer team won last night in ROUND 4 of Regionals. One more game and it’s on to STATE! Soooo exciting!! And tonight…she graduates! Amazing days.
Anyway….I wanted to share this line from Psalm 139 that is so beautiful to me:
“You’ve gone into my future to prepare the way, and in kindness, you follow behind me to spare me from the harm of my past.” 139:5
Oh my gosh. I can’t even. In some versions, it says he has us hemmed in. I mean…he’s already gone into my FUTURE to prepare the way (it’s a narrow way, by the way:)!!?? And then…
in kindness…he FOLLOWS BEHIND ME (wait, aren’t we following him?) to spare me from the harm of my past!?! Too much.
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I can turn around and try to take peeks into my past. I just did it this week. I couldn’t sleep one night and I laid (layed!?? 🤷🏻♀️) in bed and literally willed myself to take a stroll down memory lane. Dumb. I mean, clearly there are tons of good memories and we all want to revisit those…but then, there are those memories that aren’t. Guess what? They can still be there, too.
But THIS VISUAL will now forever stay with me.
I turn around.
To tiptoe into my past.
But guess what?
JESUS IS STANDING THERE. Right behind me. He’s ALL I CAN SEE.
He says to me (and you): “Hello love…whatcha doing?”
Me: “Oh, you know Jesus (cause he does:) just about to head down memory lane into some harmful memories.”
Jesus: “yeah…I thought you might try to do that again one day. So, I’m here. Standing watch. Because I love you. And all those memories are gone anyway….they’ve been thrown into the sea of forgetfulness. Remember!?! Now, turn around…move forward and don’t let anything from your past harm you. If you try it again, don’t worry, I’ll be RIGHT HERE.”
Dang He’s good. Right where we need him to be when we need him. Etch this visual (and TRUTH) in your mind as well. When you turn around to go back…bump right into Jesus.
Love you.
He is so amazing. I can't even handle his LOVE for us.
A message I didn’t even realize I needed! WOW!
