MORNING THOUGHTS☕️: Right after Jesus had cast out a demon, he and the disciples continued on to the region of Galilee (wait…you mean they didn’t set up camp where the miracles happened and try to build a ministry around them?). He DID NOT WANT the people to know he was there, because he wanted to teach his disciples in PRIVATE.
I read that and thought how OPPOSITE the church and “Christendom” is today. Oh, if we’re coming into town … we want posters and marketing campaigns and we blow up social media and we work to get the pews packed out and to get people to buy tickets to the conferences. Maybe, just maybe, if there’s time AFTER the large crowds…we will meet with a handful to talk.
Not Jesus. He continually told people to NOT spread the word about the miracle he just did. He longed for time with His father in prayer and communication. He would come into town stealth…purposefully NOT wanting the crowds to know he was there. He would have rather taught the 12 than the 1200. He knew discipleship looked like spending lots of time together and talking and sharing life and that the REAL work happens behind closed doors.
Funny…the next passage is the disciples arguing about which one of them is the greatest. Kind of fitting.
We have so much to learn.
