“Take nothing extra on your journey. JUST GO as you are. Don’t carry a staff, a backpack, food, money, not even a change of clothes.” - Luke 9:3
Would we simply GO? Would we enlist ourselves for service? Sign on the dotted line. Leave our family. Endure intense training for a new way of life. Do what it takes to become spiritually, emotionally, physically fit. Be ready and willing to be SENT OUT and SERVE with nothing but the clothes on our back? Would we be willing to go wherever he said go?
Watching Shanice has been so eye-opening and at every turn, I’ve seen spiritual significance.
We, on the other hand, have become “something other” than soldiers and disciples. We’ve become “cushioned christians.”
Instead of raising our hands “send me”, we sit in pews for an hour or two a week. Instead of investing the time it takes to get to really know Him and His ways (our commander-in-chief), we occupy ourselves with dumb tv shows and social media feeds. Instead of going empty-handed and trusting him for provision…somehow, we think we must have MUCH before we do a thing. Instead of asking where, we create our own path and then ask him to come along.
Lots to ponder watching a girl become a soldier.
Xox.
Thanks Sharon! I will!
I’m re-reading thinking “too tough!?” 😳 ouch.
