Made for Intimacy.

This memory popped up from 3 years ago today! Goes right along with some of what I’ve been posting, so I thought it was worth a re-share!

MORNING THOUGHTS ☕️: I’m BACK in my little quiet space for the day. I’ve realized, yet again this week, that I wasn’t built for BUSY. I was built for intimacy. And I’m going to go out on a limb and say that I BET you were, too. Actually I KNOW you were.

That’s our # 1 purpose...intimacy, relationship, communion with the Lord. But we opt, instead, for busy. Can you imagine something NOT doing the # 1 thing it was created for!?! It would rust and wither and die. We’re the same.

A “busy” week reminded me of how I used to live and how the majority of the world lives. We think it’s normal. We think it’s just the way it is. In busy...we never stop long enough to realize it’s not.

Adam walked with God in the cool of the garden before the fall. THEN the toiling and striving came in. That means it’s not part of our original design. So why do we do it? Cause it’s what we think is “normal.” It’s making me think of one of my FAVORITE scriptures in the Message version...I base E-School and our weekend retreats on it:

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with Me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a REAL rest. Walk with me and work with me...watch how I do it. Learn the UNFORCED RTHYMS OF GRACE. I won’t lay anything ill-fitting or heavy on you. Keep company with me and you’ll LEARN to live freely + lightly.” - Matthew 11: 28-30 (The Message)

Not being busy does not mean the absence of work…it means we co-labor and walk with him…from a posture of rest. That, my friends, is how we live freely + lightly.

Love you!

E
