MORNING THOUGHTS ☕️: Morning Sunshines. Here’s one to ponder…may as well start the week off with a bang:):

“You must be willing to share MY cross and experience it as your own, as you continually surrender to MY ways.”

- Mark 9:34

Gulp.

Ok wait a minute. I believe IN you. I want to be a good person. I go to church on Sundays. Isn’t that enough?!?

Gulp.

It’s a good beginning…but we must not simply believe IN Him…we must believe AND know him. His ways are not our ways, and so, if we don’t get to really know Him, how will we trust him enough to fully surrender OUR ways to His? How will we understand his character and nature (and in turn, ours) if we simply read about him or listen to someone else talk about him on Sunday?

We won’t.

We will continue to live our own lives, follow our own ways, and do it all out of our own flesh…all while “believing”.

It’s like having one half of a cake recipe. It will fall flat in 2.2.

It’s like being invited to the greatest event and staying in the bathroom the whole time. 😳😂

Man, that word surrender, in a society of self, has really, really lost it’s flavor and attraction. All I know, is that for me, the more I surrender my ways to His, the more peace and joy and fullness I experience. If our ways are up, his are down. If our ways are left, his are right. If our ways are high, his are low. Opposite. Contrary. Counter-culture. FREEING.

Yes! In being called to be a “peculiar people”, His ways might seem odd sometimes even to us, but oh how it leads to freedom in all the ways! As I have begun to lean into Him more, I don’t want the ways of this world as I did before. That is freedom!
