Offense

MORNING THOUGHTS ☕️: Some friends and I were talking about offense this weekend. How being offended seems to be the new national pastime. It’s rampant.

We’re offended at what’s said, what’s not said, what’s implied, what’s not implied. We’re offended that we weren’t invited, that we were invited, that they talked about us, that they didn’t talk about us. We’re offended at real things and imaginary things and it’s hard to tell which is which anymore.

OFFENSE (original Greek and Hebrew roots): to put a snare or bait hook IN THE WAY.

See how that fence BLOCKS us from entering in. Let’s keep that visual in mind when we start to “get offended.” We’ve just been snared, baited, hooked…and it will not lead to anything good. It will ALWAYS create a BARRIER between me + you.

That’s all for now. But let’s remember today that offense is literally “in the air”. Don’t grab it or let it land. It’s a trick.
