MORNING THOUGHTS ☕️:
Good morning loves! I think this scripture was on my mind this morning because we’ve been planting seeds AND because we hung out in our field last night. Here it is:
“A single grain of wheat will NEVER be more than a single grain of wheat UNLESS it drops into the ground and DIES…because then it sprouts and PRODUCES a great harvest. All because one grain died.” - John 12:24
PRODUCE: to bring into existence; to bring forth or give birth to.
Of course, this scripture is referring to Jesus and his soon coming death…but let’s look at it as our lives.
First, it’s so interesting to me that the Aramaic words for “it dies” and “it produces” are basically the same: myta/mytya.
So, singularity is finite. Futile really. It will only produce a short spurt of fruit, never a harvest. It’s fruit that only we would see because it would begin AND END with us.
BUT.
If we will DIE to self…if we will CHOOSE to allow ourSELF to be buried, hidden, covered up, unseen for a season…that death will bring forth BIRTH and it will PRODUCE a harvest that will extend way beyond anything we could have ever imagined in the “saving of self” and unwillingness to die.
Upside down kingdom. To die is to truly live. And to give our lives (all because ONE GRAIN died) produces harvest.
