I love words. And I love treasure hunts. And I love digging deeper into things I’ve heard from the Lord. When we use dictionary’s and concordance’s and reference materials and we DIG…we will always uncover hidden goodness.
As an example, this morning I’m studying the word SERVE.
The Webster’s definition is: one that performs the duties of a master); to be worthy of reliance or trust.
Well…that already sheds light on it, doesn’t it!?! Which made me go to Mark 10:45 which states that Jesus didn’t come to be served but to SERVE and to GIVE his life as a ransom for many.
Let’s look up ransom: a consideration paid for the release of someone from CAPTIVITY.
So. If the Lord is asking you to SERVE (and I promise you, he is) a people group…then you are being asked to be worthy of reliance and trust (this only happens through relationship) and it’s likely to be a people group that are being held CAPTIVE by something that you yourself were held captive by.
When we get set free…it’s not just for ourselves, but to SERVE others who are still in captivity to the very thing that captivated us.
Happy Sunday and happy word searching! 😘
