Not “building anything”…“doing anything”…“leading anything”…for this doer, entrepreneur, leader has been quite a journey. When we’re asked to STOP for a season and go against the grain of who we think we are, it can be painful. But…I’m FIRST and foremost an obedient follower. I’ve learned, over the years, that when the One I’m following PAUSES and stands still in my world, I sure better pause and stand still right there with Him. He ALWAYS knows where I’ve been, what’s ahead, how to heal parts of my heart, and what’s most needed. And so…I trust.

Now. That first sentence I wrote on purpose so I could also write this to expose the LIE that it is.

We have become conditioned to only SEE what we build, do, lead, create … in the NATURAL. We put our hands to something…we see results. We pat ourselves on the back (and hope others do as well:) for a job well done.

BUT…we also have the capacity…and are actually CALLED TO build in the SPIRIT. Where do you think we’re storing up treasures and creating ETERNAL impact? It’s IN the spirit realm.

What may look like “being still” in the world’s eyes, because we’ve been conditioned to weigh our production on the temporal, may actually be building something way more valuable than anything here on earth.

Sowing into our children. Eternal.

Honoring our spouses. Eternal.

Dying to self. Eternal.

Stewarding promises through prayer. Eternal.

Is this making sense? We MUST learn to open our SPIRIT EYES to see waaaaay past what we’ve been conditioned to see. We must learn to VALUE what God values and to BUILD what He’s building.

Anything else is simply laboring in vain.
