‘Tis the Season.
MORNING THOUGHTS ☕️: Morning Sunshines! We interrupt our 24 days with Luke to re-share this message that popped up in my memories yesterday. I always feel it’s timely.
13 years ago today, I was just getting out of the hospital. I had been in there for WEEKS. I remember going by the mall area as Keith drove me home…everyone was racing around…frantic to get a few presents checked off the list on their lunch break. You could FEEL the hustle and bustle in the air. Or, maybe I was just super sensitive to it as because I had been in a place of STOP for so longNine years ago today, I was just getting out of the hospital. I had been in there for WEEKS. I remember going by the mall area as Keith drove me home…everyone was racing around…frantic to get a few presents checked off the list on their lunch break. You could FEEL the hustle and bustle in the air. Or, maybe I was just super sensitive to it since I’d been in a place of STOP for so long.
It struck me HARD.
Just moments before, I was in a place where people were fighting for their lives and days revolved around when the doctor would come in…it was so…encapsulated. It was so…real. The preciousness of life and well being was a massive reality. And then…I was out in the cold watching people cut each other off in traffic …rushing to spend money they probably didn't even have.
That season of my life changed EVERYTHING. It completely SHIFTED my focus. Remembering all of that yet again reminds me to not get caught up in it all. To not race around buying things people don't even need.
Christmas is simple and different for us now. We focus on life and love and family and Jesus and refuse to get caught up in the details that bring stress instead of joy into our lives.
If you are feeling overwhelmed and like your list is long and expectations high…
STOP. Take a breath. Refocus on what matters most. And then, say no to the hustle and bustle that wants to take you out of the joy of this beautiful season.
