What’s In a Name.

MORNING THOUGHTS ☕️: Y’all … listen to this. Still on the thought from yesterday:)

Do you ever think about name meanings? I do. I look them up often…especially when I’m studying.

Saul means “significant one”.

Paul means “little”.

Huh? Say what? You mean Saul, in all his awful escapades and ways and murders and hatred … his name means SIGNIFICANT ONE!?! And Paul…our loved, humble apostle, who was kind and loving…his name means LITTLE? I’m confused. This seems backwards.

Yup. It’s an incredible picture for all of us. When we are going OUR OWN WAY…operating in our flesh…being who we THINK we are but not truly WHO we are…when we are loud and seen and recognized by the WORLD…we think it means SIGNIFICANCE (important, deserving of attention).

BUT…when we turn and begin to go GOD’S WAY…when we live and operate out of our spirit…when we become who we TRULY are and not who the world tries to define us as…we become LITTLE (small in size, consideration, or importance).

This isn’t self-hatred or putting ourselves down. This is TRUTH. This is BIBLICAL.

John 3:30 He must become greater. I must become less. Or from The Passion Translation: it is necessary for Him to increase and me to decrease.

This is the way of the Kingdom. Let’s stop trying to be significant and start trying to decrease. Remember…up is down and down is up and right is left and left is right in the kingdom.

We live in a different world. We go by different names.
