I went to bed thinking about all of the posts I saw over the weekend regarding the Olympics opening. I didn’t watch it live and I haven’t watched the replays. It doesn’t seem like anything I’d enjoy.
There’s been lots of debate. Lots of back and forth. Lots of opinions. Lots of offense. Oh, believe me, it’s easy to jump on that band wagon.
But.
IF we’re looking at the world through a lens of offense and not a lens of love, then we haven't fully grasped the gospel or the heart of God. If we’re looking at others with disdain instead of compassion for their souls, we haven’t fully grasped the gospel or the heart of God. If we spout off our opinion easily and quickly then we aren’t exhibiting the fruit of the spirit, but rather, the fruit of the flesh.
There’s a ton of stuff going on that makes you wonder. There’s a reason every time you turn around to shake your head. But, if we want to align with God’s heart, we will have more compassion for those who are lost, not less.

Beautiful. True. I look forward to your coffee moments. Michael and I are sipping coffee this morning and I read this to him. And he said…. that is a very mature response and he was encouraged by it.
Convicted. Haha. But this is a very good reminder!
