MORNING THOUGHTS ☕️: I was driving to a doctor appointment yesterday. It was out of town so I was on a major highway with lots of lanes and traffic.
I noticed movement coming up on the left hand side of the highway. Is it a paper bag? Leaves? As I got closer, I could tell it was a bird that had probably hit the windshield of a car and was now on the side of the road fluttering and rapidly moving his wings to try and fly again…to no avail.
I clearly couldn’t stop. Cars were packed in every lane. And so…I drove on.
But.
I could NOT get that bird out of my mind. I wanted to take an exit and somehow, turn back around. But I was pressed for time and besides, what in the world was I going to do with a hurt bird in my car an hour away from home?!?
I wondered how many people are like that bird.
Hit.
Didn’t even see it coming. Just flying along, doing your thing. And now…you’re on the side of the road. Flapping your wings as hard as you can but going nowhere. Tired. Worn out. Scared. Ready to give up. In need of someone to turn around or pull over and pick you up.
Made me think of a fave scripture:
“Are you tired, weary , worn out? COME TO ME. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me…watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything ill-fitting or heavy on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” -Matthew 11:28
I mean….I could talk about THAT scripture all day long…but for now, I need more coffee.
Love to you! Have a beautiful weekend!

P.S. that is not THE bird:). It’s an old picture of a bird that had flown inside.
