MORNING THOUGHTS ☕️: Y’all remember trust falls? We’d always do them as kids and on several awful occasions, as adults playing around or during a team building exercise.
I hated them.
I mean…falling backwards with the potential to hit the ground with a loud thud…relying on and trusting the people behind you to actually do what they’re supposed to do and not drop you?!? What if they decide it would be super funny to just let you fall?
I’m the one that would also ways thwart the fall and use MY feet to ensure I ended up standing. Kind of defeated the whole purpose.
Anyway, when I read Proverbs 3 yesterday, it made me think of this image.
Do NOT LEAN…
LEAN: to incline or bend towards. To depend or rely on.
Here’s my thought: we will not lean on or rely on that which we do not trust. So. If we honestly, deep down, don’t trust the lord to direct our paths, we won’t lean on him and we’ll stay focused on our own understanding to determine the paths we go down in the first place.
Heck. I’ve learned to really know him, hear him, trust him…and yet, there are times I have to struggle against my own flesh and all that I KNOW to LEAN on him and not myself. We’re WIRED to make our own decisions and trust in SELF. The whole system is set up to conspire against us trusting in Him. People fail us. Enter in trust issues. We’ve grown up hearing things like “if you can’t trust yourself, who can you trust?!?”
Ummmm. God.
When we finally learn to trust in the Lord with ALL of our heart…all of our heart can be made whole.
